1. Who this applies to.

This policy covers everyone who visits or uses Born Star — viewers, creators, applicants, and people who contact us. Born Star is for adults only. You must be 18 years of age (or the age of majority where you live, whichever is greater) to use it.

2. What we collect.

You give us

• Account and creator-application details (name, email, payout info, ID for age and identity verification).
• Content you upload (video, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, tags).
• Messages you send to support, including any attachments.
• Age-gate confirmation when you first land on the site.

We collect automatically

• Device and browser data: IP, user agent, screen, referer, approximate location derived from IP.
• Usage data: pages visited, videos watched, watch time, votes, saves, search queries.
• Cookies and similar storage (see Section 6).
• Server logs for security, abuse prevention, and debugging.

From third parties

• Payment processors confirm a payout or transaction succeeded.
• Identity verification providers confirm a creator’s ID is valid and they are 18+.
• Public metadata sources used only to enrich performer information (no scraping of private accounts).

3. How we use it.

• To run the site — serve video, render the catalog, power discovery and search.
• To verify age and identity for creators, and to keep underage content off the platform.
• To pay creators and handle refunds, chargebacks, and fraud.
• To respond to support, takedown, and legal requests.
• To improve the product — ranking, thumbnail selection, personalization.
• To enforce our terms and protect Born Star, performers, and viewers from abuse.

We do not sell personal information. We do not show third-party advertising trackers on the catalog or watch pages.

4. Legal bases (EEA / UK).

If you are in the EEA or UK, we rely on: contract (running your account), legitimate interests (running and securing the site, preventing abuse, improving the product), legal obligation (record-keeping, tax, takedowns), and consent where required (non-essential cookies, marketing).

5. Who we share with.

• Service providers — hosting (Vercel), video infrastructure, email, payments, identity verification, analytics. They process data on our behalf under written terms.
• Law enforcement and regulators — when legally required, or to prevent imminent harm.
• Successor entities — if Born Star is acquired or restructured, your data may move with the business.

We never share creator payout details with viewers, and we never share viewer identity with creators.

6. Cookies and similar storage.

We use a small set of cookies and local storage entries to keep the site working — the age-gate confirmation, mute preference on Discover, scroll restore, the video bandit’s thumbnail picks, and basic analytics. You can clear these in your browser at any time. Clearing the age-gate cookie will prompt you to confirm 18+ again.

7. How long we keep it.

• Account and creator records: kept for the life of the account, then up to 7 years for tax and legal record-keeping (including 18 U.S.C. §2257 obligations — see 2257 compliance).
• Server and access logs: typically 30–90 days, longer if needed for investigation.
• Support correspondence: up to 24 months unless a legal hold applies.

8. Your rights.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain uses. To exercise any of these, email contact.bornstar@protonmail.com from the address on file. We will verify your request before acting.

California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA. EEA and UK residents have rights under GDPR and may lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.

9. Security.

We use industry-standard safeguards — TLS in transit, access controls, encrypted storage for sensitive records. No system is perfect; if we ever learn of a breach that materially affects you, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required.

10. Children.

Born Star is strictly 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the site or appears in any content, contact us immediately at contact.bornstar@protonmail.com. We act fast.

11. International transfers.

Born Star is operated globally and your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States and the European Union. Where required, we put appropriate transfer safeguards in place.

12. Changes.

We will update this policy when the product or the law changes. The effective date at the top tells you when the current version took effect. Material changes will be announced on the site.
